About the Role
The Narrative Developer will support the Louisiana Truth and Safety Project by developing structured,
compelling, and values-aligned narrative content drawn from messenger and storyteller testimonies. This
role is responsible for translating lived experience into clear, proactive, and informative language that strengthens project messaging and helps guide the development of communications collateral. The Narrative Developer will play a key role in ensuring that stories are framed in ways that support prevention, equity, restoration, and community-defined safety.
This is a grant funded position with a stipend amount of $3000.00. You will be working directly with your
co-lead throughout this process. A commitment of 10 to 30 hours per month.
Requirements
Key responsibilities include:
• Review messenger and storyteller testimonies and identify core themes, values, and narrative
opportunities.
• Work directly with the graphic designer to ensure written content aligns with design concepts, visuals, tone, and overall project messaging.
• Develop and refine accessible, compelling narrative content for community, partner, and public audiences while ensuring all story framing remains respectful, accurate, and consistent with ethical storytelling practices, project feedback, communications needs, and campaign priorities.
• Help ensure narrative consistency across materials, including briefs, public messaging, digital content, and visual collateral.
• Develop structured written content based on testimonies for use in project materials, messaging documents, and communications collateral.
• Frame stories using proactive, informative, and justice-centered language that aligns with the project’s goals and values.
Preferred qualifications:
• Strong writing, editing, and narrative development skills.
• Ability to translate lived experience into clear, strategic, and audience-appropriate language.
• Experience in communications, storytelling, narrative strategy, campaign messaging, journalism,
advocacy writing, or related fields preferred.
• Understanding of justice-centered communications, community-based work, and values-driven messaging preferred.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with project staff, storytellers, and creative partners.
• Strong attention to detail, consistency, and message alignment.
• Commitment to racial justice, community safety, and impacted-community leadership
